Blog #6 Did the President do anything wrong with his Executive Order?

Hi again Cadets. Your task is/was to watch President Obama's press conference and see what action he takes with his Executive Order on Thursday night.  Once you have watched the conference, give a brief synopsis of what he said and also respond with your personal feelings about the situation. Once you have posted your information/point of view, make sure that you post a URL/Website that supports your information.  As we discussed earlier in class, there are quite a few myths surrounding the Executive Order so now is the time to set the record straight. If you add new information to our knowledge, then you are truly becoming a better citizen. I look forward to your posts and can't wait to see what you find.

If the republicans actually did something, then the president wouldn't have to use the executive order to get things done. His time as president is limited and he is trying to do something about immigrant reform before his term ends and time in the political world flies quickly.
In his speech ,president Obama expresses his concerns for the nation's immigrant policy, for unaccompanied children are getting past the border in his speech regarding his support for immigrant reform. He gave a heartfelt speech on how immigrants are amongst us., they are our neighbors, friends, and classmates. Obama explains that immigration was and Is the foundation of America, therefore we must accept the ones so bright that work difficult labor to provide a better a life for themselves and their children. He urges the republicans to take a vote in the senate so something can be done about this issue and not continue to be postponed. President Obama wants to allow the immigrants to create a better life for themselves and children and their families by granting those working permits, thus protecting them for deportation.
I agree with Obama about this decision, its about time immigrants get the permit to get better jobs and incomes. I hope they no longer have to live in fear of being deported after working here for so long, especially when many have children that are citizens here.

I'm glad he used the executive order, for he isn't the first to do so and something needs to be done about this issue.

    1. Your points are valid but what about the immigrants that had to wait and come here legally. How do you think they feel about this issue? Congress is definitely not using the 7 citizenship skills that you are being taught in the classroom.

  2. the only reason we are all here is because we immigrated from some other place if not most of us would not be here like my self. immigrants come here to have a better life and so their family would be safe. immigrants come here because they can be whatever they want they can get a job anywhere if they work hard in of. which immigrants are. some immigrants take the jobs that us american do not want so they take and work really hard so they can get paid and so they can feed their family and provide and better life for their children. they do not want their children to go through what they had to go through so they come here and have a better life than they used too.

    1. I agree. Many people claim that undocumented immigrants come here and take our jobs, when in reality they take very low paying, hard labor jobs that most Americans don't do.

  3. In the President's address he outlined his plan to aid families in which the children are underage naturalized US Citizens but the parents are here illegally. People sensationalized the president's plan to grant 3 year temporary work visas to those immigrants who meet the criteria, saying that he's giving a "free pass" to people who came here illegally. These ideas make the holder seem largely uninformed as if you pay attention to the requirements of the program and what it entails you would realize nobody is getting free, instant citizenship. They are merely being given a limited amount of extra time to remain with their children in the country as they try for citizenship through the usual, legal process. Here is an article from the BBC highlighting the people who are left out of the program. Bad news for them, good news for Republicans.
