Blog #7 Things to be thankful for over the Holidays...

Since the holiday of Thanksgiving is this week, I think that we should all reflect on what we have to be thankful for and post our opinions to our sight this week.  Once you have posted what you have to be thankful for, next select a video to support your post.  Good luck and I'll start the blog off with my own personal comment. "I am thankful for a loving and caring family that helps me through thick and thin. I have been blessed with great friends throughout my life and those two items are just the tip of the iceberg". Here is a video that I found that sums up my feelings.

  1. I am thankful for food. Many Americans and people around the world are privileged to always have food and not be insecure as to whether they will be able to have a meal or not. We waste tons of food on a daily basis and the fact that millions around the world and in America are starving, is humbling. I cannot imagine starving in poverty, for I have never been in that situation and for that I am thankful. I am thankful for food , clothes , health and shelter . Many people in this world don't have those things so I should be glad that I'm one of those people that do . I'm also thankful for those friends who's been with me through good and bad times , who have always put a smile on my face . Who always picked me up when I'm down . Lastly I'm thankful for my parents , who encourage me to do my best and follow my dreams . Without their love and support I wouldn't know what to do . I'm thankful for all of these people . I am thankful for food, my house, being healthy, my clothes and my family. Ive had friends that have grown up without parents and are just on the street all the time without a home to go back to. I am thankful that i do not have that problem.I am also thankful for my friends because without them i would just stay home all the time and play video games but they give me the opportunity to go out experience more and have fun. 1. Knowing people who have experienced difficulties in their lives really helps put your own situation into perspective. That might be part of the reason why people like to volunteer at soup kitchens... to humble themselves?

  7. Around the winter time I become much more aware of how fortunate my family is to have a stable housing situation. After walking home in 10 degree weather, snow or rain or some combination thereof I am so grateful to have a warm, secure place to rest. It truly strikes me every time I'm stripping off heavy jackets and waterlogged boots in the foyer that there are people all throughout the world who lack safe and adequate housing and they must feel like they can never truly let down their guard. Youtube is slow on my computer so instead I'm posting a link to an article from NBC about the prevalence of homelessness in the US.

  8. I am thankful for the simple fact that I am alive. I have been through so many obstacles, but that's the past. I'm thankful I can call it the past, others are still going their obstacles.
