Blog #12 A Healthy and Happy New Year to All...

Happy New Year cadets and I hope that you had a wonderful time off. If you made your Goal/New Year Resolution, you are a large part of the population in the U.S. As you know, if your resolution is not achievable, you will not be successful with your goal and will stop trying by the end of January. To help you out, just remember that it only takes 30 days to make something become a habit. So if you walk 1 mile each day for the next 30 days, you will start to enjoy your walks and will be more likely to keep walking and want to become more involved in other exercise. What are you going to do this semester to improve your fitness? What is your goal and how will you achieve it? Post your answer and add your video/URL that supports your goal. Don't forget to comment on a peer's work and let's start 2015 off with a Healthy New Year!

My New Year's resolution has been to stop using profanity completely. I plan to do this by thinking very carefully about what I say before I say it. This will be especially tough because most people do not plan to curse, the words just automatically come out. I also plan to replace the profanity I use with other, much less offensive words in order to get the anger out, but not say anything that isn't polite.

  2. My main New Year's resolution is the same as Honcharenko's. I chose this resolution because I found that people listened to me more without using all the profanity. It helps to clean up your vocabulary in order to be heard completely.

I for one cant say i haven't ever cursed. i agree that cleaning up the way you speak can make people listen to you more. Others respect you more when your vocabulary isnt trashy. cursing makes you(not you literally) seem stupid because of your low vocabulary. i think you should think of fun ways to achieve this goal. maybe having to do a push up per curse , stay clean and fit :) ,

My New Year's resolution for 2015 is to lose weigh. My exact goal is to drop 20 pounds by May. To achieve this goal i need to lose the minimum of 4 pounds a month, which is 1 pound a week, what i should be doing for this the achievement of this goal is giving myself time out of the week to stay fit and healthy. Once or twice a week i should give my self a full workout. i should start making simple things a habit such as walking or taking the stairs. All i really need is motivation which i got by reading and watching other peoples stories about weight loss.

I think this is a good goal because you really know what your goal is and the exact way to achieve it. Also you are really especific with what you want to achieve. I hope you can loose the weight you hope to loose and that you like the results.

  4. My new years resolution is just to be a better me. What I mean by that is to keep the negative things I want to say about someone, to myself. Also, to treat people like they treat me, and eventually complete my project which has been going on for 6 years.

I agree with you because it takes a lot of time to change who you are but its a process and before you know it you are a good person. Also, you probably are a good person and you just don't know, you shouldn't have to change your self for other people because that just who you are and if they don't like it then that's their lost.

  5. My New years goal is to manifest my energy into my future. I want to live life! Most of us think we know everything but we probably just touched the surface of the topic. I want to grow with knowledge I want to read great books and learn more about my self such as taking acting classes, learning how to draw. Learn to play the piano and get better at my vocals and stop being afraid to make little decisisions such as trying out for the school play or getting a job. I want to make everyday count and hopefully that will help me choose a career path. I want to be happy this year because I feel like i deserve it. I feel like I take so much of my time to make others happy and don't get me wrong it makes me happy seeing others happy but you know live for my self a little. I want to become a better writer and do more for the world and help people in my community. I want to improve on my imagination and take the time out and imagine a beautiful future ahead of me, because I need to improve projecting positive energy into the universe with tool of my imagination.

    1. The quote "to thine own self be true" comes to mind. You must be happy yourself before you can make other people happy. You already like good music so you have a great place to start. A little less talking in class and a little more paying attention in class will help you as well. Talk to me when you can.

My New Years goal is to pass my earth science class because that is the only class I need to get a good grade in order to get a good average. Also, I want to finish high school so I can go to college and reach my goal of becoming a doctor. I know that its going to take a while to become one but I will put all my energy into it. Also, this marking period I want to pass all my finals and Regents I have coming. In order to get all the good things in life I have to work hard for it.

  8. I don't like the concept of New Years Resolutions since I feel like you should always be trying to better yourself and shouldn't wait until next Monday, the first of the month, etc. to implement positive change. Whenever I want to make a change I just jump right into it. That being said, I did make one resolution for the second half of my senior year- to stop getting to school so late! I miss my first period more times than I would like to admit so I've been trying harder to get to school on time. Attached is a video I found when I searched "get ready for school fast" in youtube. I didn't watch it and it looks stupid but I needed a video and who knows maybe 1SG will watch it and his life will be changed forever. It has like over a million views so it can't be too obnoxious, right?

    1. Cadet Grimm, did you say that you didn't watch the video? Sometimes stupid is good it gets an idea across. If the video doesn't change my life forever, maybe, just maybe it will change one of our viewer's lives. Thanks for posting the video. Oh by the way, I don't think I need tips on putting on make-up..lol. The video should really help our female audience.

  9. I have one and that is to just be nicer and think in terms of what my mom would do. Now, sometimes that may not be the best thing but I look up to my mom as one of the smartest people ever, don't we all? Also I need to learn how to forget what has happened in the past.

    1. I am sure that you will be like your mom. It sounds like she is a very good role model to me. Remember that she tries her best and I know that you will as well.

The first thing I need to do this semester to improve my fitness is stop being lazy. I think I am a very lazy person and it doesn't help my fitness because I don't really motivate myself to do things such as walking, running, and exercising. I will drink the necessary amount of cups of water I need per day. I will start to eat healthier, and eating more fruits and vegetables. And also I will exercise at least twice a week. I will achieve this goal by setting a reminder to myself everyday so I know what I need to do. Also by motivating myself to do things, since eating healthier and drinking water also helps me with other things other than my fitness. I will try my hardest to keep these goals.

    1. Cadet, sometimes it is easier to keep an exercise goal when you can do it with a friend. So see if you can get a friend to do things with you and you will find that you are having fun. Once you start having fun, you will be more inclined to exercise more without dreading the thought of exercising. Good luck and I hope that you are successful.

  11. My goal is to improve my classes in FHHS. I want to get at least 80s in all of my classes and not fail any classes. I want to improve my activities with the school and JROTC to make a better name for my self and to be important in the program. One website was able to help me improve my grades by giving me questions that is related to the topic. I believe that I can improve my grades by the end of June with the help of this website.

i think that's a great goal to have. Honestly, half of it is just paying attention which will lead you to doing well on the exams. As for making a better name for yourself, that is also a very good goal because it is realistic and achievable.

My goal is to do well in flag football so that i can make it to the team. My friend and I have decided to practice everyday after school for at least 2 hours to brush up on our skills. It will be a great challenge to make it past the incredibly athletic girls competing against me, yet I will try my best.
