Blog #17 Eating for a Healthy You

Good Morning Cadets.  We are going to tackle a new subject for some of you and that is the art of Eating Healthy, or You Are What You Eat!  Your task this week is to use the form out of your Cadet Reference Guide and keep track of every single thing that you eat every day for an entire week. Calorie Worksheet PDF  . While you are doing this, you must keep track of your calories that you consume and write them down on the form as well.  You must post a link/URL to our site for a video or document that supports eating healthy and lastly, you must comment on at least one of your peer's work.  Remember when commenting to give positive re-enforcement with your words.  Good luck and here is my Video.

Ive chosen this video because Joe Rogan explains how us humans know what we're supposed to do and how to live and eat clean but we dont. We dont do the most we can. (excuse the cursing) but Joe gets straight to the point :)

We all make plans to be healthier and well most of us never do. We all get stuck with our everyday lives. I watch this video and yes it has nothing to do with the food area but it might help with plans.

I agree with you and I think most people do make plas to eat healthier and never start to eat healthier and I think the video is a good video because it could help you plan on how to eat healthier.

I feel that in today's society, especially now that fast and unhealthy food is available at every corner, eating healthy is becoming harder and harder, especially for younger individuals who are lacking time to prepare a healthy meal. It has become much more convenient to go out and buy unhealthy food in a matter of a few minutes, than it is to cook a healthy, natural meal at home. When it all comes down to it, the battle against unhealthy eating habits it won through effort and willpower, traits that not much of the younger generation possesses. This video shows you how to start thinking a little differently, and how to make healthy eating not a challenge, but a routine. The dietary log is a very helpful tool in this mission, it lets one know exactly what they're doing with there eating habits, and therefore how to improve them. The most important thing on the path to healthy eating is to be honest with yourself, because the only person you would be sabotaging by lying in this situation is yourself.

    1. The fact that you said "unhealthy food is available at every corner" reminded me of how when I first moved back to the US after being in Colombia I was amazed with how much food was constantly available. Obviously it had been the same before I left but being away for three years really opened my eyes to the differences. I know people have to eat but like why are there so many Burger Kings and Subways and Little Caesars everywhere you turn? It's ludicrous. Walking down 86th street is like basically walking down one gigantic food court. It's odd and unsettling.

Eating healthy is harder for people not only because of the fast food but because of the prices. eating healthy is difficult due to the fact that a burger is cheaper than ingredients used to make a salad. I completely agree with you.

  5. So sad that America has such a large diet culture and body shaming and yet we still have such an epidemic of obesity and general unhealthy living. Where is the disconnect? This video is five years old but it talks about some common misconceptions most people have about healthy eating and how it can lead to unintentional unhealthy eating, with an emphasis on sugar (i.e. glucose, fructose, high fructose corn syrup.)

The disconnect is where there are people who just don't care about how they look at all because they don't care about their body or are comfortable being the way they are and there are people who care about themselves and want to maintain a healthy living style and don't want complications later on in their life.

I agree with this video because I admit that I actually sit without doing anything and just eat, and don't exercise as much as I should even though I know that if I ate healthier and exercised I could feel better.
The link below is an article that gives tips on how to have a healthier diet and what you need to do to eat better.

I agree with this video because I'm like that. I tend to eat, eat, eat and then don't exercise so that can led to gaining weight. this is not good for your health so I started to changed the things I eat.

I agree with this video because its showing how throughout the years as technology advanced people became more and more inactive. I'm trying to eat less unhealthy foods and more healthier ones to lose weight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaOomsd2lQs

    1. You have a good point. This generation needs to be more active. we have over 90% of young adults who are obese, we have to get out more and exercise.

  10. YouJ5 I agree with this video because you have to balance out what you eat so you can maintain or have a healthy diet. Not only do you have to balance out what you eat you also have to eat healthy things, just because you are balancing your diet with exercise doesn't mean you shouldn't be eating junk. This video is also helpful to the topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiKg6JfS658

I feel like changing my diet is not easy because I don't have a problem with my weight at all. If anything, I could stand to gain a few more pounds.
In regards to my video, I believe that he is 100% correct. If you remove the temptations altogether, you don't need to worry about being tempted by something you don't have and you'll just forget.

I agree with the video because now a days most people just rely on junk food and fast food on a daily basis sometimes. Many people don't eat the right food most of the time , junk food has a huge impact on this generation. I think people should start to cut down on junk food and watch what they eat.

    1. I agree with you. Fast food and other kinds of processed food has had an enormous impact on us and is starting to take over our lives- how we live, what we wear, how we look, our life span, health etc etc

  13. Sand5 This video basically sums up what happiness to cause less activeness and unhealthyness in children in one minute. How we live now astronomically contrasts with how our ancestors lived. It's very important to keep children active or else obesity will continue to build up and become more severe.
