Blog #21 Your end of year Cadence Performance Final

Good Morning Cadets.

Your task this week is to post the Marching Cadence that you are going to use for your End Of Year Performance Final at the beginninging of June.  Remember that your Cadence must be easy for you to use and must be between 1.5 to 3 minutes in length.  Find your video on Youtube to practice with and you can also use the two cadence books that we have in the classroom.  Once you have selected your Cadence, you must post the name of it to our blog along with the words/verses.  Post the URL as well and make sure that you comment on at least one of your peer's work.  There can only be 3 performances of the same cadence in each class so make sure you get yours posted first. Remember, first come, first served so don't be late on this assignment. I am looking forward to seeing your homework and watching your performances at the end of the year. Good luck and I hope you have fun and enjoy this assignment.

    My marching cadence:

    VICTORY

    V I C T O R Y
Victory, victory that's our battle cry.

    S O L D I E R
Soldier, soldier that's who we are.

    C O U N T R Y
Duty, honor, country that's our life.

    ========================================

    The army colors.
    The colors are red.
    To show the world.
    The blood we shed.

    The army colors.
    The colors are blue
    To show the world.
    That we are true.

    The army colors.
    The colors are white.
    To show the world.
    That we can fight.

    ========================================

Airborne ranger, airborne ranger where have you been?
Around the world and back again.

Airborne ranger, airborne ranger how did you go?
    In a C-130 flying low.

Airborne ranger, airborne ranger how did you get down?
In a A-10 bravo big and round.

Airborne ranger, airborne ranger what did you do?
I killed a commie (Taliban) for me and you.

Airborne ranger, airborne ranger how did you get back?
I marched all the way with a ruck on my back.

    ========================================

    Here We Go

    Here we go,
    All the way,
    Every day,
    PT,
    Feeling good,
    Looking good,
    Ought to be,
    In Hollywood,
    Dress it right,
    Cover down,
    Forty inches,
    All around,
    You can do it,
    PT,
    One mile,
    No sweat,
    Two miles,
    Better yet,
    Here we go,
    All the way,
    Air Force (Dragon Soldiers),
    Hoorah,
    Air Power (Chemical Power),
    All the Way,
    Air Force (Army) Way.

    ========================================

    C-130

    C-130 rolling down the strip,
Airborne daddy on a one way trip.
    Mission top secret, destination unknown,
Don't even know if were comin home
Stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door,
Jump right out and count to four.
If my main don't open wide,
I got a reserve by my side.
If that one should fail me too,
Look out ground, I'm a comin through.
If I die in the old drop zone,
Box me up and ship me home.
If I die on a Afghan hill,
Box me up or the Taliban will.
If I die in the Iraqi sand.
Honor me with the Army band.
Pin my medals upon my chest,
Bury me in the leaning rest.

    ========================================

    SOME SAY FREEDOM IS FREE

    Some say freedom is free,
    but I tend to disagree.
    Some say freedom is won,
through the barrel of a gun.
My daddy gave up his life,
so that you could have your right.
On the night my daddy left,
the air was cold the ground was wet.
They put him on a silver jet.
    It was a night I won't forget.

    Some say freedom is free,
    but I tend to disagree.
    Some say freedom is won,
through the barrel of a gun.
There was a knock knock at the door.
My momma knew what was in store.
On that night my daddy died.
Oh, my momma she was crying.

    Some say freedom is free,
    but I tend to disagree.
    Some say freedom is won,
through the barrel of a gun.
Many years have come and gone,
my momma still lives all alone.

    Some say freedom is free,
    but I tend to disagree.
    Some say freedom is won,
through the barrel of a gun.
    Some say freedom is free,
    but I tend to disagree.

The cadence I chose to preform is "Down by the River"

    Down by the river
    I took a little walk
    Ran into Alpha
    We had a little talk

    I pushed em
    I shoved em
I threw em in the river
    laughed as they drowned

    We don't need no Alpha
    Hangin, Hangin, Hangin around

    Cadence:She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
*Tweaked it a little to match my likes

Around her head she wore a yellow ribbon
She wore it in the spring time in the early month of May
And if you ask of why the heck she wore it
She wore for her soldier that was far far away
    AWAY!
    AWAY!
She wore it for her soldier who was far far away
Around the block she pushed a baby carriage
She pushed it in the spring time in the early month of May
And if you ask why the heck she pushed it
She pushed it for her soldier that was far far away
    AWAY!
    AWAY!
She pushed it for her soldier that was far far away
Behind the door her daddy held a shotgun
He kept it in the spring time in the merry month of May
And if you ask of why the heck he kept it
He Kept it to keep the soldier far far away
    AWAY!
    AWAY!
He kept it to keep that soldier far far away!

The cadence I choose is, Mama,Mama,Can't You See

    mama,mama,can't you see
what this corps has done for me
put me in a barbers chair
snip, snap, and I had no hair
and if I die in a combat zone
box me up and ship me home
put me in a set of dress bules
comb my hair and shine my shoes
pin my medals upon my chest
tell my mama I did my best
    mama,mama,don't you cry
Marine Corps motto is "do or die"
    say let right let
    left right left
    low right left
    lefty right low

For my cadence I decided to use the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song as apart of my cadence. I changed a bit of the lyrics to my liking.

    Are you ready class?
    Chorus: aye aye corporal!
    I can't hear you!
    Chorus: Aye aye corporal!
    OOOH
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
    Chorus: SpongeBob SquarePants
Absorbent and yellow and porous is he?
    Chorus: SpongeBob SquarePants

If nautical nonsense something you wish?
    Chorus: SpongeBob SquarePants
Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish
    Chorus: SpongeBob SquarePants

    Everyone: SpongeBob SquarePants
    SpongeBob SquarePants
    SpongeBob SquarePants
    Spongybob SquarePants

    The cadence I picked is " I know a soldier,way down in Georgia ".

    - I know a soldier
    He lives in Georgia
And he wears a black beret
    He wears it everyday
    Way down in Georgia
    Way,way down in Georgia

    I know a soldier
    He lives in Georgia
And he wears a red beret
    He wears it everyday
    Way down in Georgia
    Way,way down in Georgia

    I know a soldier
And he wears a tan beret
    He wears it everyday
    Way down in Georgia
Way down in hot ass Georgia

    I know a soldier
    He lives in Georgia
And he wears a green beret
    He wears it everyday
    Way down in Georgia

I decided to use the cadence "13 weeks of misery"

I know it exceeds over 3 minutes, but im only going to be calling a portion of it so that it fits

    Cadence calling:
    A-low right a-layo
    A-lefty right a-layo
    A-low right a-layo
    A-lefty right a-low
    A-low right a-layo
    A-lefty right a-layo
    A-low right a-lefty right
    A-lefty right a-low

    There's a story
    That I love to tell
    13 weeks of misery
    13 weeks of hell.
I was living in the city,
    a working every day.
    Until a man in blue,
    happened to come my way.
I signed my name upon the dotted line.
    Packed all my trash,
    got on the plane.
    All to serve my time…

    Cadence calling

They sent me to an island,
    of where they made Marines.
They said “1000 boys may come,
    but only men may leave.”
They issued all my gear --
    combat boots and skivvy shirts.
    In a few short hours,
they had me in the dirt.

    My drill instructor,
he trained me rough and hard.
    He taught me how to fight;
he taught me how to march.

  16. Down By The River:

    Down by the river
    We took a little walk
    Ran into Alpha
    We had a little talk

    We didn't like their attitude
Didn't like the way they walked

    So we pushed em
    we shoved em
we threw em in the river
    laughed as they drowned

    We don't need no Alpha
    Hangin, hangin, hangin around

    Down by the river
    We took a little walk
    Ran into Bravo
    We had a little talk

    We didn't like their attitude
Didn't like the way they walked

    So we pushed em
    we shoved em
we threw em in the river
    laughed as they drowned

    We don't need no Bravo
    Hangin, hangin, hangin around

    Down by the river
    We took a little walk
    Ran into Charlie
    We had a little talk

    We didn't like their attitude
Didn't like the way they walked

    So we pushed em
    we shoved em
we threw em in the river
    laughed as they drowned

    Drive on _____ Platoon
    One day you'll be alone
Way out in the combat Zone
Bullets flying [platoon says rat tat tat]
    Bullets flying [rat tat tat]
    Bullets flying all around
Better keep your head to the ground
But don't ya worry 'bout bein' ahlone
____ Platoon is gonna bring you home

[repeat for all platoons in your company, then do you're own for the
    last verse]

  20. I decide to choose the cadence YELLOW RIBBON

Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon
She wore it in the spring time, in the early month of May
And if you asked her why the heck she wore it
She’d say she wore it for her soldier who was far, far away
    Far away
    Far away
She wore it for her soldier who was far, far away
Around the block she pushed a baby carriage
She pushed it in the spring time, in the early month of May
And if you asked her why the heck she pushed it
She’d say she pushed it for her soldier who was far, far away
    Far away
    Far away
She pushed it for her soldier who was far, far away
Behind the door, her father kept a shotgun
She kept it in the spring time, in the early month of May
And if you asked her why the heck she kept it
She’d say she kept it for her soldier who was far, far away
    Far away
    Far away
She laid them for her soldier who was far, far away

I would like to do ; down by the river..

    Down by the river
    We took a little walk
    Ran into Alpha
    We had a little talk
    We didn't like their attitude
Didn't like the way they walked
    So we pushed em
    we shoved em
we threw em in the river
    laughed as they drowned
    We don't need no Alpha
    Hangin, hangin, hangin around

    Down by the river
    We took a little walk
    Ran into Delta
    We had a little talk
    We didn't like their attitude
Didn't like the way they walked
    So we pushed em
    we shoved em
we threw em in the river
    laughed as they drowned
    We don't need no Delta
    Hangin, hangin, hangin around

    Down by the river
    We took a little talk
    Ran into Romeo
    We had a little talk
    We didn't like their attitude
Didn't like the way they walked
    So we pushed em
    we shoved em
we threw em in the river
    laughed as they drowned
    We don't need no Romeo
    Hangin, hangin, hangin around

    Down by the river
    We took a little walk
    Ran into Bravo
    We had a little talk
    We didn't like their attitude
Didn't like the way they walked
    So we pushed em
    We shoved em
We threw em in the river
    Laughed as they drowned
    We don't need no bravo
    Hangin, hangin , hangin around
