Blog #10 Self-analysis, my weakest Leadership Trait is...

Cadets, your work posted about your Best Trait was interesting. Since it is easier to find something good about ourselves, it is also much harder to find something with ourselves that needs to be improved or worked on.  You must select what you think is your weakest trait and how you intend to improve on that trait along with posting a URL article or video about your trait. Once you have posted your work, remember to comment on one of your peers work and then you will be finished for this weeks assignment.  Here is one of the traits that I can always use to work on which is my Endurance.  Here is a video that shows all 14 Leadership Traits and I hope you enjoy it

My weakest trait out of the 14 leadership traits is decisiveness. I often find it hard to make a decision in tough situations because I overthink each choice, and get overwhelmed. The irony in it is the fact that details are usually what make all the difference, but when they are looked at individually, can become overwhelming, and make it hard to focus on a specific choice. In my past few decisions, I have been trying to look at the benefit of each choice, without the details and technicalities. It is much better to make the wrong decision than to make no decision at all, because at least with the wrong decision, there will be a lesson learned.

    1. Counter- point: If decisiveness is something you struggle with, did you have a hard time choosing that answer? Inception.

  2. I think my weakest leadership trait is unselfishness. I have to try hard to put others' needs in front of my own, and often I find myself slipping and only considering my own goals and emotions. This is something I need to work on, as much as I need to work on running a mile in under 10 minutes or getting a decent grade in my math class. The following is a link to a site which is kind of sketchy but has a list of "6 ways" to tell if you're a selfish person. So you don't have to download a virus to your computer, I'll also copy in the list.

    http://www.yourtango.com/experts/drs-evelyn-and-paul-moschetta/are-you-selfish-6-ways-know

6 ways to tell if you're a selfish person:
    1. You like being in control and find it difficult to compromise.
2.Giving and sharing do not come easily to you.
3.Putting your partner's needs first — before your own — is very difficult.
4.You hear constructive criticism as personal attacks.
5.You become moody when others have the spotlight.
    6.Forgiving others is difficult.

I think most of the time I put others instead of myself first. Like when I pray, I mostly pray for other people and at the end I pray for myself. I always think of others and worry a lot about others and sometimes it isn't that good because those people could hurt your feelings. Even though sometimes I'm really straight forward but I don't mean to sound offensive I still always think that I should treat others how I would want to be treated. Therefore I don't think my weakest trait is unselfishness.

I picked selfless service as my weakest leadership trait too. And after considering the '6 ways to tell your selfish' I have determined that I am indeed selfish.

I think my weakest leadership trait is tact. Tact is the ability to communicate with others in a way that is not offensive to them. I think this is my weakest trait because most of the time I say things the way I think them, which is really straight forward but at the same time it might be offensive or mean. I think I can improve on this trait by being straight forward with a person but at the same time put it in a nicer way that they won't get offended, and not saying everything I think the same way as I think it. Also by thinking before I speak.

I agree with the way that you feel that you're going to help your weakest trait. sometimes you should just take a moment and think things over before saying or doing them.

I think selfless service is my weakest leadership trait because I imagine that if I was put in a situation I wouldn't be able to sacrifice my ambitions and dreams for another person because I hold too much value for them. I hold my goals above anything and If I see someone achieving something I wanted, I find myself having difficulty in being happy for them . This is something that I am quite ashamed of, yet I don't know how to overcome it. I cannot do something for someone if something that I desperately want is at expense.

This is basically a personality quiz that gives you scenarios and options to go along with them. It determines if you're selfish or not based on your responsible.

  5. Endurance is my weakest leadership trait. I say this because, since I have been through so many struggles in life it's hard for me to push forward. I know it's suppose to be the opposite way. Every time I am in a hard situation I tend to lose my my strength to withstand wear and tear.

I picked decisiveness as my weakest leadership trait. However endurance isn't my strongest trait either. I've also had several obstacles in my life and I don't think I've handled them as well as I could have.

My weakest trait out of the 14 leadership traits is decisiveness. Decisiveness means that you are able to make good decisions without delay. Get all the facts and weight them against each other. By acting calmly and quickly, you should arrive at a sound decision. You announce your decisions in a clear, firm, professional manner. This is my weakest trait because i'm horrible at making quick decisions, im usually the person that is unsure of what they want and makes everything really difficult. i should practice this trait by asking myself questions and making a decision quickly and seeing whether or not its the right choice.

  7. My weakest leadership trait is decivesness. I find it difficult to make a firm and best decision put on the spot, especially to be put under pressure and having to analyze all the pros and cons of the decision you are going to make. I picked this trait because that is my weak point and I feel like being Jrotc will help and train me to work on that leadership trait.

I 100% agree with you because I am the same exact way. It is hard for me to make decision right on the spot because I like to take y time and make sure im making the right choice and I need to work on that as well.

My weakest leadership trait is decivesness. Its hard for me to make on decision because it takes time for me to think what I want to do. If someone was to asking me pick something right now I would have no answer because its hard for my to pick something right on the spot. A way for me to learn from that take my time and thinks about the pros and cons and think wisely.http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Good-Choices

  9. My weakest leadership trait is Justice. Its hard for me to decide what is wrong and what is right and sometimes get mixed with both. I cant give anyone a bad time and cant really make anyone feel bad even if it is the wrong decision. I need to improve this skill to better accomplish my task and to give people the right and wrong decisions. http://m.wikihow.com/Be-Tactful

  10. My weakest leadership trait is Justice. Making decision is really hard for me. Like what if I make the wrong choice ? It can affect many people. I want to make the right choice when asked to. I plan to improve and overcome this trait is to think and decide carefully. Also to pay attention to every detail given to me.

i think that justice is a hard trait but when you think about it, when it comes to justice your might need evidence to support what ever you are supporting, judges do it all the time and they have to see wether or not someone is guilty or not guilty based upon the evidence.

I agree with you justice is a hard trait. It can affect people in their everyday life but your gonna have to face your problems at one point so i advise you try to improve that trait.

my weakest leadership trait is decisiveness. I find It hard to make decisions quickly ,I usually overthink the situations that I am in and in the end usually something bad happens. I need to improve on this trait and I will , even if the outcome is bad I will learn from it and grow as a person.

My weakest leadership trait is decisiveness, i am always second guessing myself which is not very good if i am in a tight situation. i always overthink and always look at the possible negative outcomes instead of the possible positive outcomes, and i think one way that could help me overcome my weakest trait is Jrotc. i think this because they way we learn and the way they prepare us is helping in a way because the was they make orders and decide what to do, in a way it help me to realize what i could do to become better at this trait.

My weakest trait is endurance. I chose this as my weakest trait becuase i usually tend to give up on something really easily if i cant handle that thing and just push it to the side and never have attentions to finish what i started.

I think my weakest leadership trait would have to be decisiveness. I am really bad at making decisions, ESPECIALLY when it has to be made on the spot. I feel really overwhelmed and I don't know what to do. I think my problem is I overthink it, and I worry too much about what other might think. Decisiveness is definitely something I need to work on and I think I can improve by focusing on what I think is right and trusting myself. The following link is to an article explaining thoroughly what decisiveness really is.
