Blog #25 First Aid and how to save a life

Saving a life can be the most rewarding and gratifying act that you may ever perform. During our class this week, you will learn about First Aid for CPR, Mouth to Mouth Resuscitation and the Heimlich Maneuver. Your task this week is to find a Good Samaritan story about someone that saved a persons life. This story should be recent and should be in either a news story, video, or online account.  Post the story information to our site along with the proper URL and make sure you comment on at least one of your peer's work.  Remember also that you have your Cadence Calling/Marching Performance Final coming up on the 8th of June.  Make sure you are practicing and getting ready for that. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your stories and hearing your cadences.  Here is my video about a Good Samaritan:

This is a true hero. A woman risking her life for a child we need to step and show heroism in small acts. Seeing this makes me a better person. I hope a lot of people agree.

  2. Risked his life just to help another person in need. We need more people like this. This is someone who talks the talk and walks the walk.

Its a game called "DayZ" where you can be one of the 3 Bandit (killer), Hero (help out other people) and a survivor (neutral). Being a hero is much like trying ot be a hero in life, its a risk-reward system where people either backstab you or help you and make friends.

    1. What's important about our stories that we chose is that the feature people going out of their way to help the elderly... which is something that I believe we should all do! The elderly are so often overlooked in everyday life, people should really try and pay closer attention!

  8. I just posted my story but I think it wasn't properly submitted. I'm dumb and didn't copy it so I'll just write it out again.

An 84 year old woman in Tennessee named Jean Wilson used to order a pizza and two diet cokes every morning from her local Domino's pizzeria. After three days when she didn't call for her delivery, Domino's employee Susan Guy decided to go and make sure everything was all right.
When Guy got to Wilson's house and found no answer when ringing the bell, she called 911. Medics arrived and found that Wilson had collapsed three days before and was unable to reach the phone to call for help. She was taken to the hospital where she was able to receive medical attention, and is now (probably) back to enjoying her daily thin crust pepperoni. All thanks to someone who made it their business to care about a stranger.
